Holiday Visas |
As
with most things in life there is a batch of rules
to complicate the situation. The batch of rules
in this instance relate to the type and permanence
of the work that you're allowed to undertake and
the visa or passport that you hold. |
 |
Fax on demand
service |
| |
This
service is designed to assist both consular
staff and the public by providing 24-hour
easy and quick access to faxed copies of
a range of the most frequently requested
visa and passport information and forms |
 |
British and
EC passport holders |
| |
There
are no restrictions here on the type and
permanence of the work that you perform,
bar the fact that it must be legal, of course. |
 |
Ancestral visas |
| |
You can find a permanent
or contract/temporary position in any field
you choose. No restrictions. |
 |
Working holiday visa |
| |
The 2 year Working Holiday
Visa is available to Commonwealth citizens
only. |
|
| |
The Visa can ONLY be
applied for from outside the UK.....in other
words you cannot apply for it if you are
already in the UK. You cannot have more
than one working holiday visa in your lifetime.
The rules regarding the Working Holiday
Visa changed in August 2003. Since August
2003, working holiday makers are able to
work full-time in a professional capacity.
The age limit has also been extended so
that applicants can apply for the visa up
to their 31st birthday.
Working holidaymakers are also now allowed
to switch into Work Permit employment once
they have been in the UK for 12 months as
a working holidaymaker. Switching to a Work
Permit was not generally permitted before
the changes in August 2003.
In considering whether your skills and experience
for a Work Permit application are met, the
authorities now take into account your experience
gained IN the UK as a working holidaymaker,
although they may disregard such experience
gained prior to 20/6/03 if before that date,
the person had not complied with previous
restrictions on working holidaymakers undertaking
employment.
To apply for the working holiday visa, you
will need to fill out a "VAF1"
form, (available by emailing info@valuevisas.com
- please make sure that your email inbox
has enough space available to accept the
form as it is a pdf document!
If you want to stay longer in the UK beyond
the expiry date of your WHVisa, you may
apply for a different visa in order to stay
in the UK. |
| |
Options
include the following: |
| |
 |
6mth
Visitors Visa (but you can't work on
this visa) |
 |
Student
Visa (you have to be studying for minimum
15hrs per week - you may work 20hrs
per week if the visa is issued for longer
than 6mths) |
 |
Work Permit Employment
(you need to have a UK employer who
wants to employ you) |
 |
Unmarried Partners
Visa (you need to have ben living together
for at least two years) |
 |
Marriage Visa (need
to be married) |
 |
Ancestry Visa (need
to have a UK born grandparent) |
|
| |
In many
situations you will find temporary work
through an employment agency. In this situation
the employment agency is technically your
employer and they have a responsibility
to ensure that the work you do complies
with the terms of your visa. Reputable agencies
generally have a good understanding of the
various visa restrictions and employment
law. It is advisable to consult them on
the type of work that you are allowed to
perform. |

The
